A Guide to Cookie Storage
By Bakers District
We bake our cookies fresh every morning. But we understand you might not eat them all in one sitting. Here is how to keep them tasting their best.
Room Temperature (Best for 1-3 days): Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. Do not refrigerate unless the ambient temperature is above 35C. Keep them away from direct sunlight and strong odors. A sealed container is important because cookies absorb moisture from the air, which changes their texture.
Refrigeration (Not recommended for most cookies): The fridge is not ideal for cookies. The cold, dry environment can make them stale faster. The exception is our Burnt Basque cookie, which contains cream cheese and should be refrigerated if not eaten within a day.
Freezing (Best for 1-2 weeks): All our cookies freeze well. Wrap each cookie individually in cling film, then place them in a freezer bag. They will keep for up to two weeks. When ready to eat, let them come to room temperature for 30 minutes or use the reheat method below.
The 3-Minute Reheat Trick: This is the secret. Preheat your oven to 170C. Place cookies on a baking sheet and heat for exactly 3 minutes. The edges will re-crisp, the center will soften, and any chocolate will become molten. It is the closest you can get to fresh-from-the-oven without actually being in our kitchen.
One final note: our cookies do not contain preservatives. This is intentional. It means they have a shorter shelf life than commercial cookies, but it also means every ingredient is real and every bite tastes like it should.
